Historic Raj Kapoor Haweli taken into custody

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archaeological Department has taken into custody the historic ancestral homes of prominent Bollywood actors Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor in Peshawar after purchasing them. Dr. Abdul Samad, Director Archeology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took possession of both the houses in the name of Archeology Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Department of Archeology and Museum Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will promote tourism by preserving and renovating the houses of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor and turning both places into museums, Dr Abdul Samad said. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had approved Rs. 23.5 million for both the houses and the procurement process of both has been completed, Dr. Abdul Samad The Department of Archeology will declare the site a protected monument under the Archaeological Act to preserve it for future generations and promote cultural tourism, Dr. Abdul Samad said.
