KP to get the First Digital City of Pakistan

The Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is going to be the first digital city of the country with the financial and technical assistance from China.

The master plan for the Digital City project, going to be built on 4.5 hectares of land, is expected to be finalised by end of this month. The project is expected to create jobs for the skilled Pakistanis by becoming technological, innovative and economical hub of digital market in the country.

Under the joint Pak-China project over 80 Chinese companies will transfer technology to Pakistan which will not only help in superior technology transfer but would lead to competitive environment too offering opportunity to diverse range of business and technology firms.

While talking to VoKP, Waheed Zaman a senior official of the project said that the project area was made safe through proper fencing; adding that this will be a game changer for Pakistan and the region in the digital market.

He maintained that the KP government in collaboration with the Chinese companies have decided to invite talented potential investors, communication technology, software houses and many other related companies to establish their businesses in the first-ever Digital City of the country.

Waheed Zaman believes the project would bring a revolution in the field of IT in Pakistan if completed successfully as per plan designed by the experts.

Meanwhile, Haleem Khan Assistant Professor of Computer Science Department in Iqra University said that such projects in the country help create opportunities for thousands jobless IT and computer science students.
Ahmad Ali Baizai, another official of the IT department KP said that this project was designed under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of Digital Pakistan which is going to be a huge platform for the young generation to make their future brighter.

It is important to mention here that KP government in 2018 had launched Digital KP policy to create jobs for the youth of the region and enhance e-bidding, e-workout, and e-tendering in the country which is the need of the time.
